Review

This book brings to light the events of the Yellow fever epidemic during 1793 and shows how it affected Philadelphia. A major theme in this book is how this challenge affected the people around during this time. A lot of people left the state but some of them stayed. However, there was no food to spare and most merchants were gone. Some people, like Mr. Rowley, the robbers, and the people at the farm were only trying to help themselves, while other people like Matilda and the doctors at Bush Hill were trying to help everybody. The story is Man vs. Survival because Matilda has to try to survive until the next frost so that the Yellow fever will be gone. This book was very scary however and many people died throughout the story. Even the main character's friends died and even her grandfather died as well. I do not recommend this book unless you are 17+. The story ends with a sad ending also because the main character feels empty inside after almost everybody is gone. I would give this book a 0.8/10, since many people died, and it didn't have a happy ending in the end.
